Tom Odell – Another Love

“Another Love”

I wanna take you somewhere so you know I care
But it’s so cold and I don’t know where
I brought you daffodils in a pretty string
But they won’t flower like they did last spring

And I wanna kiss you, make you feel alright
I’m just so tired to share my nights
I wanna cry and I wanna love
But all my tears have been used up

On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up
On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up
On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up

And if somebody hurts you, I wanna fight
But my hands been broken, once too many times
So I’ll use my voice, I’ll be so fucking rude
Words they always win, but I know I’ll lose

And I’d sing a song, that’d be just ours
But I sang ’em all to another heart
And I wanna cry I wanna learn to love
But all my tears have been used up

On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up
On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up
On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up

I wanna sing a song, that’d be just ours
But I sang ’em all to another heart
And I wanna cry, I wanna fall in love
But all my tears have been used up

On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up
On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up
On another love, another love
All my tears have been used up

Tom-Odell-Another-Love

Early life

Odell was born in Chichester, West Sussex, to an airline pilot father and a primary school teacher mother. He has an older sister He spent part of his childhood in New Zealand because of his father’s job. He was educated at Seaford College He studied piano classically to Grade 7. He began writing his own songs at the age of thirteen but told no one, because he felt it was “uncool”.

At the age of eighteen, Odell abandoned plans to attend the University of York and attempted to gain a place at a music college in Liverpool. He appeared at open-mic events nightly: “It was full of humiliation: dragging a keyboard round, turning up to find out I’d been taken off the bill, gangs of lads grabbing the mic off me and laughing… I learnt to perform and learnt what songs work.” After a year, he moved back to Chichester after being made redundant from his job as a barman. Using his grandmother’s car, he travelled regularly to London to play shows and to put advertisements in music schools. He studied at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music playing as part of the band Tom and the Tides  before moving to London in 2010. Tom and The Tides recorded the song “Spider” for the Brighton Institute of Modern Music student album  “What’s Inside Your Head Vol.3”. However, he later decided to become a solo artist because he “didn’t want to have to rely on people”.

Career[edit]

Odell is signed to In the Name Of, an imprint of Columbia Records. He was discovered by the label head Lily Allen, who remarked that “his energy onstage reminded me of David Bowie“. He was given an album advance: “I went out and bought an old Mini Cooper for cash. Then three weeks later I got back from a show in Scotland and the car was gone. So if you see a racing-green classic Mini Cooper, it’s mine”. He released his debut extended play, Songs from Another Love, in October 2012. He made his television debut in November 2012 as a performer on Later… with Jools Holland; the show’s producer Alison Howe later described it as “a classic Later debut”. Odell was announced as one of fifteen nominees for the BBC Sound of 2013 poll in January 2013. Also that month, his single “Another Love” was used by the BBC to advertise their 2013 schedule. Odell’s music has been used in numerous Burberry fashion runway shows. Odell was named the BRITs‘ Critics’ Choice Award winner, previously won by artists such as Adele and Florence and the Machine, and was interviewed alongside previous winnerEmeli Sandé during the television ceremony in February 2013.

Odell’s debut album, Long Way Down, was released on 24 June 2013 and reached No. 1 in the UK Official Chart. He was due to support The Rolling Stones at London’s Hyde Park on 13 July 2013,[21] but was unable to perform because of illness.

Tom performed his first new song since the release of Long Way Down, entitled “Alex”, on 7 February 2014 at the Plymouth Pavilions. The show kicked off the last leg of his UK Long Way Down Tour.

Odell was named ‘songwriter of the year’ at the 2014 Ivor Novello Awards ceremony. Odell’s song “Can’t Pretend” was used in the TV series The 100. “Can’t Pretend” and “Long Way Down” were also featured on The Blacklist. His song “Grow Old With Me” was featured in an episode of Reign.

Odell’s latest song, a cover of The Beatles‘ “Real Love”, is the audio track to the 2014 John Lewis Christmas advert and has gained him great publicity. The advert features a penguin finding love and was released on the same day as the single. Within hours of the advert being aired for the first time, the track reached to the top of the music recognition service Shazam’s trending list. Within three days of release, it went straight to 21 in the UK top 40, peaking at 7.

Tom is in the process of recording his second album and has played a lot of new songs on his recent forest tour around the UK. The album is due out later this year.

Champagne Coast :

Finishing 8 or 9?
Tell me what’s the perfect time?
Told you I’ll be waiting
Hiding from the rainfall

Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom

Tell me what’s the joy of giving if you’re never pleased
On my last strength against all that you believed

Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom

Young as I want to know
I’ll never let you go
Trading a baseball lover
As I face the snow

Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom
Come into my bedroom

Finishing 8 or 9?
Tell me what’s the perfect time?
I told you I’d been waiting
Hiding from the rainfall
Tell me what’s the joy of giving if you’re never pleased
On my last strength against you
Baby tell me what you need?

Young as I want to know
I’ll never let you go
Trading a baseball lover
As I face the snow

So tell me what’s the joy of giving if you’re never pleased
On my last strength against you
Baby tell me what you need?

Mapei – “Don’t Wait” – Official Music Video

Old friend indeed, come built me up
Come share your lie, it makes me shine
You get the message, don’t you ever forget it,
Let’s laugh & cry until we die!

If it wasn’t for you, I’d be alone
Hey, If it wasn’t for you, I’d be on my own
Don’t wait til I DO WRONG
Don’t wait til I put up a fight
You won my HEART without a question
DON’T WAIT FOR LIE!!

Hey, I care for you, I talk to you in my deepest dreams, unfortunate
We got a frigette?? no one can contest it
And not to mention, I respect YOU with my all!

If it wasn’t for you, I’d be alone
If it wasn’t for you, I have to hold my own
Don’t wait til I DO WRONG
Don’t wait til I put up a fight
You won my HEART without a question
DON’T WAIT FOR LIE!!

NOT A THING in the world could get between what we share
NO MATTER WHERE you at, no worry I’ll be there
No one’sS got your back like a do
Even when the business not going well, we still do
WHEN I SHINE, YOU SHINE no ways on your side
All my life you’ll have what’s mine
Mark my word, we gon’ be alright
MY BROTHER, MY SISTER we gon’ be just fine!

Hey, If it wasn’t for you, I’d be alone
Hey, If it wasn’t for you, I’d be on my own
Don’t wait til I do wrong
Don’t wait til I put up a fight
You won my HEART without a question
DON’T WAIT FOR LIE!!
