Red Hot Chili Peppers Around The World

All around the world
We could make time
Rompin’ and a stompin’
‘Cause I’m in my prime

Born in the north
And sworn to entertain ya
‘Cause I’m down for
The state of Pennsylvania

I try not to whine
But I must warn ya
‘Bout the motherfuckin’ girls
From California

Alabama baby
Said hallelujah
Good god girl
I wish I knew ya

I know I know for sure
That life is beautiful around the world
I know I know it’s you
You say hello and then I say I do

Come back baby
‘Cause I’d like to say
I’ve been around the world
Back from Bombay

Fox hole love
Pie in your face
Living in and out
Of a big fat suitcase

Bonafide ride
Step aside my Johnson
Yes I could
In the woods of Wisconsin

Wake up the cake
It’s a lake she’s kissin’ me
As they do when
When they do in Sicily

I know I know for sure
That life is beautiful around the world
I know I know it’s you
You say hello and then I say I do

Where you want to go
Who you want to be
What you want to do
Just come with me

I saw God
And I saw the fountains
You and me girl
Sittin’ in the Swiss mountains

Me Oh My O
Me and Guy O
Freer than a bird
‘Cause we’re rockin’ Ohio

Around the world
I feel dutiful
Take a wife
‘Cause life is beautiful

I know I know for sure
Ding, dang, dong, dong, deng, deng, dong, dong, ding, dang.
I know I know it’s you
Ding, dang, dong, dong, deng, deng, dong, dong, ding, dang.

Mother Russia do not suffer
I know you’re bold enough
I’ve been around the world
And I have seen your love
I know I know it’s you

You say hello then I say I do

David Garrett – Kashmir

David Garrett (born David Christian Bongartz; 4 September 1980) is a record-breaking German pop and crossover violinist and recording artist.

Personal life

Garrett was born in Aachen, Germany, to an American prima ballerina,Dove Garrett, and a German jurist, Georg Bongartz. He adopted his mother’s maiden name as his stage name, as “it was more pronounceable”.

Musical education

When Garrett was four years old his father bought a violin for his older brother. The young Garrett took an interest and soon learned to play. A year later, he took part in a competition and won first prize. By the age of seven, he studied violin at the Lübeck Conservatoire, and by the age of 12, Garrett began working with the distinguished Polish violinist Ida Haendel, often traveling to London and other European cities to meet her. After leaving home at 17, he enrolled at the Royal College of Music in London, leaving after the first semester. On being asked in an interview in 2008 if he was expelled, Garrett responded: “Well, expelled wasn’t the official term… It was mutually agreed that me and the RCM were going separate ways after the first semester. I did skip some lessons – but I also broke in to do extra practice, so that didn’t help!” In 1999 he moved to New York to attend the Juilliard School, in 2003 winning the School’s Composition Competition with a fugue composed in the style of Johann Sebastian Bach. Whilst at Juilliard he studied under Itzhak Perlman, one of the first people to do so, and graduated in 2004.

Garrett attended the Keshet Eilon Masterclasses in Israel in the summers of 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2002.

Career

Garrett received his first Stradivarius violin at the age of 11, courtesy of German president Richard von Weizsäcker, after having performed for him. At the age of 13, Garrett recorded two CDs, appeared on German and Dutch television, and gave a concert in the residence of the President of Germany, the Villa Hammerschmidt, at Dr. von Weizsäcker’s personal invitation.[citation needed] He was offered the use of the famous Stradivarius “San Lorenzo”,[when?] which is among the best instruments of Antonio Stradivari’s “golden period“. At the age of 13, as the youngest soloist ever, Garrett signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon. In April 1997, age 16, he played with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta in Delhi and Mumbai in concerts marking the 50th anniversary of India’s Independence.

Two years later, Garrett played with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and was hailed by critics. This led to an invitation to perform at Expo 2000 in Hanover. At the age of 21, he was invited to perform at the BBC Proms.

While studying at the Juilliard, Garrett supplemented his income by working as a model.

Garrett’s 2008 album Encore pursues an aim of arousing young people’s interest in classical music. The release contains his own compositions and arrangements of pieces and melodies that have accompanied him in his life so far. Together with his band, consisting of keyboard, guitar and drums, he gives concerts that include classical sonatas (accompanied by a concert grand piano), arrangements, and compositions, as well as rock songs and movie themes. In Autumn 2007, Garrett was chosen by the Montegrappa firm (whose items are distributed by Montblanc throughout the world) as an ambassador for the launch of the new pens from the Tributo ad Antonio Stradivari collection. The event took place in several different venues, including in Rome, New York, Hong Kong, Berlin, and London. For these occasions Garrett was offered a Stradivarius from the Gli Archi di Palazzo Comunale collection.[citation needed] He also appeared at the Royal Variety Performance on 5 December 2011, playing his cover of Nirvana’sSmells Like Teen Spirit“.

He joined the 9th annual Independent Music Awards judging panel to assist independent musicians’ careers. His most recent album, Music, was released in 2012. On 19 May 2012 he appeared at the UEFA Champions League Final performing with German singer Jonas Kaufmann. For 2014 he announced a new Crossover Tour.

He played the lead role in the 2013 movie The Devil’s Violinist, as the noted 19th-century violinist Niccolò Paganini.

Nirvana – Lithium

“Lithium”

I’m so happy ’cause today
I’ve found my friends …
They’re in my head
I’m so ugly, but that’s okay, ’cause so are you …
We’ve broken our mirrors [Alt: We broke our mirrors]
Sunday morning is everyday for all I care …
And I’m not scared
Light my candles, in a daze
‘Cause I’ve found god

Yeah, yeah, yeah [6x]

I’m so lonely, but that’s okay, I shaved my head …
And I’m not sad
And just maybe I’m to blame for all I’ve heard …
But I’m not sure
I’m so excited, I can’t wait to meet you there …
But I don’t care
I’m so horny, but that’s okay …
My will is good

Yeah, yeah, yeah [6x]

[2x]
I like it – I’m not gonna crack
I miss you – I’m not gonna crack
I love you – I’m not gonna crack
I killed you – I’m not gonna crack

I’m so happy ’cause today
I’ve found my friends …
They’re in my head
I’m so ugly, but that’s okay, ’cause so are you …
We’ve broken our mirrors [Alt: We broke our mirrors]

It’s fun to lose and to pretend
She’s over bored and self assured
Oh no, I know a dirty wordHello, hello, hello, how low? [x3]
Hello, hello, hello! With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yeah, hey, yay

I’m worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, hello, hello, how low? [x3]
Hello, hello, hello!

With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us

And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it’s hard to find
Oh well, whatever, never mind

Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun

“Black Hole Sun”

In my eyes
Indisposed
In disguise
As no one knows
Hides the face
Lies the snake
And the sun
In my disgrace

Boiling heat
Summer stench
‘Neath the black
The sky looks dead
Call my name
Through the cream
And I’ll hear you
Scream again

[Chorus:]
Black hole sun
Won’t you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?

Stuttering
Cold and damp
Steal the warm wind
Tired friend
Times are gone
For honest men
And sometimes
Far too long
For snakes

In my shoes
A walking sleep
And my youth
I pray to keep
Heaven send
Hell away
No one sings
Like you anymore

[Chorus 2x]

(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)

Hang my head
Drown my fear
‘Til you all just disappear

[Chorus 2x]

(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?

Foo Fighters – All My Life

“All My Life”

All my life I’ve been searching for something
Something never comes never leads to nothing
Nothing satisfies but I’m getting close
Closer to the prize at the end of the rope
All night long I dream of the day
When it comes around then it’s taken away
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most
Feel it come to life when I see your ghost

Come down don’t you resist
You have such a delicate wrist
And if I give it a twist
Something to hold when I lose my grip
Will I find something in there
To give me just what I need?
Another reason to bleed
One by one hidden up my sleeve
One by one hidden up my sleeve

Hey don’t let it go to waste
I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keeping me down [2x]

Will I find a believer
Another one who believes
Another one to deceive
Over and over down on my knees
If I get any closer
And if you open up wide
And if you let me inside
On and on I’ve got nothing to hide
On and on I’ve got nothing to hide

Hey don’t let it go to waste
I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keeping me down [2x]

All my life I’ve been searching for something
Something never comes never leads to nothing
Nothing satisfies but I’m getting close
Closer to the prize at the end of the rope
All night long I dream of the day
When it comes around, when it’s taken away
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most
Feel it come to life when I see your ghost

And I’m done, done and I’m on to the next one [8x]

[Yelling:]
Done, done, on to the next one
Done I’m done and I’m on to the next one [2x]

Hey don’t let it go to waste
I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keeping me down [2x]

[Yelling]
Done, done and on to the next one
Done, I’m done, and I’m
On to the next.

Nickelback – How You Remind Me

“How You Remind Me”

Never made it as a wise man
I couldn’t cut it as a poor man stealing
Tired of living like a blind man
I’m sick of sight without a sense of feeling

And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It’s not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I’m mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breaking
And I’ve been wrong, I’ve been down,
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream “are we having fun yet?”

Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no

It’s not like you didn’t know that
I said I love you and I swear I still do
And it must have been so bad
Cause living with me must have damn near killed you

And this is how, you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how, you remind me
Of what I really am

It’s not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I’m mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breaking
And I’ve been wrong, I’ve been down,
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream “are we having fun yet?”

Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no

Never made it as a wise man
I couldn’t cut it as a poor man stealing

And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me

This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It’s not like you to say sorry

John Zorn – Jazz in Marciac – Live 2010

John Zorn (born September 2, 1953) is an American avant-garde composer, arranger, producer, saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist with hundreds of album credits as performer, composer, and producer across a variety of genres including jazz, rock, hardcore, classical, surf, metal, klezmer, soundtrack, ambient and improvised music. He incorporates diverse styles in his compositions which he identifies as avant-garde or experimental. Zorn was described by Down Beat as “one of our most important composers”.

Zorn established himself within the New York City downtown music movement in the mid-1970s performing with musicians across the sonic spectrum and developing experimental methods of composing new music. After releasing albums on several independent US and European labels, Zorn signed with Elektra Nonesuch and received wide acclaim with the release of The Big Gundown, an album reworking the compositions of Ennio Morricone. He attracted further attention worldwide with the release of Spillane in 1987, and Naked City in 1989. After spending almost a decade travelling between Japan and the US he made New York his permanent base and established his own record label, Tzadik, in the mid-1990s.

Tzadik enabled Zorn to maintain independence from the mainstream music industry and ensured the continued availability of his growing catalog of recordings, allowing him to prolifically record and release new material, issuing several new albums each year, as well as promoting the work of many other musicians. Zorn has led the hardcore bands Naked City and Painkiller, the klezmer/free jazz-influenced quartet Masada, composed over 600 tunes as part of the Masada Songbooks that have been performed by an array of groups, composed concert music for classical ensembles and orchestras, and produced music for opera, sound installations, film and documentary. Zorn has undertaken many tours of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, often performing at festivals with many other musicians and ensembles that perform his diverse output.

Zorn’s compositions cross many genres and he has stated “All the various styles are organically connected to one another. I’m an additive person—the entire storehouse of my knowledge informs everything I do. People are so obsessed with the surface that they can’t see the connections, but they are there.” For Zorn “Composing is more than just imagining music—it’s knowing how to communicate it to musicians. And you don’t give an improviser music that’s completely written out, or ask a classical musician to improvise. I’m interested in speaking to musicians in their own languages, on their own terms, and in bringing out the best in what they do. To challenge them and excite them.”

Franz Ferdinand – Love Illumination

Love Illumination”

When you’re happy from a dream

Is it hard to work out what is real

Is the real over there

More vivid than here ever feels

We could love, we could love you

If you need somebody to love you

While you’re looking for somebody to love

[Chorus:]

Sweet love illumination

Sweet, sweet love elevation

Outside, fresh other side

But inside love, you will be alright

Sweet love illumination

Sweet, sweet love celebration

Got covered, reason term

But it’ll bring you up

You will be alright

It’s a black pool, bright light

Brighter than the light in your home

Well, you want to be loved

But nobody else seems to know

We could love, we could love you

If you need somebody to love you

While you’re looking for somebody to love

[Chorus]

[Bridge:]

We could love, we could love you

If you need somebody to love you

While you’re looking for somebody to love

We’re all looking for somebody

We’re all looking for somebody to love

[Chorus]

Main article: Darts of Pleasure

The members of Franz Ferdinand played in various bands during the 1990s, including The Karelia, Yummy Fur, 10p Invaders, and Embryo. Alex Kapranos and Paul Thomson met at a party and began a close friendship and played together in Yummy Fur, and subsequently teamed up to write songs. Around the same time, Kapranos taught his friend, Bob Hardy, how to play bass after being given a bass guitar by Mick Cooke of Belle & Sebastian. Kapranos met co-guitarist Nick McCarthy, who had returned to Scotland after studying jazz bass in Germany, in 2001. Franz Ferdinand’s longtime sound engineer is Michael Parker.

In May 2003 the band signed to Laurence Bell’s independent record label, Domino Records. The band had recorded an EP which they intended to release themselves; it was released by Domino as Darts of Pleasure in the latter part of 2003. The band won the “Phillip Hall Radar Award” at the NME Awards of 2004, announced in November 2003.
