Antoine Dufour – These Moments

Antoine Dufour (born 1979, in L’Épiphanie, Quebec) is a French-Canadian acoustic guitarist currently signed to CandyRat Records.

Dufour started playing guitar at the age of fifteen. He went on to study at the CEGEP in Joliette, where he listened to the music ofLeo Kottke, Don Ross, and Michael Hedges at the behest of his teacher. Since then, he has gone on to place second at the 2005 Canadian Guitar Festival’s Fingerstyle Guitar Championship and first place in the 2006 competition. He also placed third at the 2006 International Finger Style Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kansas (Doug Smith was the first place winner while Don Alder took 2nd place).

Dufour has released five solo albums to date: Naissance, Development, Existence, Convergences, and Sound Pictures. He has garnered a sizeable fanbase through YouTube with live performances of his songs cut in the same studio as fellow guitarist Andy McKee, amongst other CandyRat performers. His most popular video is a cover of “Jerry’s Breakdown” performed with Tommy Gauthier, who is himself an expert fiddler, using a single guitar between the two. Dufour has also released a sixth album (Still Strings) with Tommy Gauthier.

Dufour works on the side as a guitar instructor, offering lessons through Skype as well.

Jon Gomm – Everything

I’ll tell you all of my fears
I’ll tell you all of my shame
If you’ll just lend me an ear
That’s all I want

There is no word I can say
There is no chord I can play
To make me more of a man
And that’s all I want

That’s everything

Take my hand
I’ll lead you and we’ll never be alone
Take my hand
I’ll lead you and we’ll never be alone

The city’s making you ill
It’s like you’re running uphill
Let’s jump off the treadmill
Just close your eyes

I’m gonna build you a house
I’m gonna build you a wall
To keep you safe from it all
Just close your eyes

That’s everything

Take my hand
I’ll lead you and we’ll never be alone
Take my hand
I’ll lead you and we’ll never be alone

Back at the dawning of time
When God made everything
He had but one thing in mind
To make you mine

You’re everything to me, yeah.

You to me are everything
The sweetest song that I could sing…

Take my hand,
I’ll lead you and we’ll never be alone.

Take my hand, I’ll…
I’ll lead you and we’ll never be alone.

Take my hand, I’ll.
I’ll lead you and we’ll never…
Never be all alone.

If I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
I’d be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,

No problems

If I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
I’d be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,

No problems no

Take my hand,
I’ll lead you
And we’ll never be all alone.

No problems no

Take my hand,
I’ll lead you
And we’ll never be alone.

RHETT BUTLER

ACOUSTIC Acoustic Guitar

RHETT BUTLER

Rhett Butler is the Obsessive-Compulsive Guitarist

In 1987 he received his first guitar for Christmas. As his primary antidote against the pain and fear that he felt through his brother’s bouts with cancer, Rhett retreated into the instrument. What blossomed was a fiery work ethic that is reflected in his mastery of multiple styles and his passionate performances.

Rhett was admitted to the prestigious jazz program at the University of North Texas in 1993. Early on, Rhett developed a trademark hammer-on style that allows him to play two guitars at once by fingering each of their fret boards, coaxing filigreed harmonies and shimmering melodies without needing to strum.

Though Rhett is most well known for playing two guitars at once, don’t make the mistake of trying to classify him as a gimmick performer. He regularly features five or six different guitars during his performances.

Rhett has performed with Tommy Emmanuel, Larry Carlton, Al DiMeola, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Larry Corryell, Tony Trischka, The California Guitar Trio, Carl Palmer, Andy Timmons and many other legends of instrumental music. He is among the next generation of Texas guitar heroes.

Bio :

He started to play the electric guitar at the age of 14 as an autodidact and played a lot of rock & heavy music. Two years later He started his first band “Synatic” with some friends from school.

In 2008 He started to study music in cologne and had several side projects, mainly with the acoustic guitar. Besides this He worked as a private guitar teacher for many years.

Since 2010 He totally got into playing percussive fingerstyle and messing around with unusual tunings that He has never heard of before. He even makes up own tunings and experimented with them in order to create new interesting songs and to stay creative. This way no scales or chords can be applied anymore which is the basis for creativity in his mind. This makes playing like pioneering discovering new possibilities far away from usual pattern.

Some of his inspirations on the acoustic guitar are Maneli Jamal, Andy McKee, Jon Gomm and some more. Besides, He gets a lot of inspiration from other musical genres and artists too that influence his compositions and playing.

ACOUSTIC Acoustic Guitar

Thomas Leeb – Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd) acoustic cover solo

fingerstyle guitar version of the iconic Pink Floyd song

DADGAD tuning (well, the same intervals but starting on A#)

A few months ago I stumbled back upon Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” which didn’t only give me midlife crisis when I was twelve but also sparked a deep love for music and the guitar in particular.
I’m still in love with David Gilmour’s guitar voice to this day but, since I don’t have the faintest clue what to do with an electric guitar, I decided to pick up my baritone and see what I could do with the acoustic guitar tools I’ve picked up over the years. Playing this is a blast and I hope you like the result!

Antoine Dufour

Progressive Acoustic Guitarist

With now six albums of original material released to critical acclaim, two live performance DVDs, and more than 25 million views on YouTube, Antoine Dufour has emerged as a young star of fingerstyle acoustic guitar, building a worldwide reputation for innovation and creativity.

Antoine has toured across Canada and the UK and toured several times in USA with other artists such as Don Ross and Andy McKee. In addition, Antoine has performed at major festivals such as The Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Antoine won the first place at the Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Championships, placed third at the internatonal fingerpicking championships at Winfield (USA), has held seminars, workshops and masterclasses as part of his tour schedule.

His fans have recorded countless covers of his music on YouTube and his fan base is as loyal and ravenous to see him perform as any artist out there today.

Reviews:

“Existence” album review, CandyRat Records, 2008;
”Dufour has subtle and effortless way of transitioning his compositions in just a few short seconds from energetic and uplifting to a soulful warm nostalgia. While melodic and accessible to any listener, his music is at the same time extremely complex both texturally and harmonically. Dufour is clearly a musician who deeply understands the nature of the guitar.”

International Guitar Night concert, Glasgow, Scotland, October 4th, 2007;
”The youthful Antoine Dufour’s million views on Youtube are easily understood. His style packs a rock band’s punch behind extraordinary fluency and features highly effective flamenco-like percussion and deftly reflective melodies as well as urgent, nimble picking.”
© Rob Adams The Herald, October 16th, 2007, Glasgow, Scotland

“Existence” album review, 2008;
”The 13-cut Existence is a wonderland of fingerpicking and highly intricate compositions soothing the soul as they engage the mind. Dufour’s riffs are incredible, never-ending, and at times seemingly impossible for human fingers to pull off.”
